I just returned from presenting at the NSCA Conference in Orlando and had another email regarding personality. I discussed this in a post last week titled 'Which Has A Greater Impact On Winning Or Losing'. Below is some additional content on the subject (reference to the Latin root word persona from personality):
per⋅so⋅na
pərˈsoʊ nə
–n., plural -nae
in the psychology of C. G. Jung) the mask or façade presented to satisfy the demands of the situation or the environment and not representing the inner personality of the individual; the public personality (contrasted with anima ).
an·i·ma (ān'ə-mə)
-n.
- The inner self of an individual; the soul.
- In Jungian psychology:
- The unconscious or true inner self of an individual, as opposed to the persona, or outer aspect of the personality.
While personality tends to be a 'front' during interaction with others (very important and valuable), formal axiology can add more value by measuring the Anima as well!
