When I have the opportunity to present on the topic of speed and agility, the first question I always ask when working field and court sport athletes is 'How Fast Can You Stop'? Why do I ask this? Because it doesn't matter much in soccer, football, lacrosse, or basketball how fast you can start if you cannot stop!
The same goes for good decision making as well. In an earlier post I discussed the whole concept of decision making speed. However, it is not unrealistic to think that during performance an athlete's mind can go in a thousand different directions a mile a minute under intense pressure or stress. Therefore, the same question applies...how fast can you stop?
So what's the secret to stopping fast when it comes to decision making? It's all about what I call the 3R's!
More in this in my next blog post!
